Our camping was not far from the Parikkala Sculpture Park "Patsaspuisto".
We drove through the town of Punkaharju, turned onto the road 4792 and drove along the shore of Saimaa...
Lake Saimaa is not just a lake, it's a Great Saimaa lake system.
*Saimaa*
It system consists of eight large and many small lakes and is the fourth largest in Europe.
It is a whole water world with numerous rivers, wetlands, bays, islands and canals.
There are 13,710 islands on the Saimaa lakes, many of which look something like this:
Many rivers and streams flows into Saimaa, but only one the Vuoksi River flows from Saimaa to Lake Ladoga.
And here is our camping...
Punkaharjun Lomahovi...
GPS-coordinates: 61°46'15.5"N, 29°17'43.2"E
This is a few houses with rooms that are located right by the lake...
Each room has a separate entrance...
We unload our luggage and go into our room...
The room was small, but very comfortable.
There are cold and hot water, toilet, shower, electric stove and refrigerator.
And behind the window is Saima...
We were came here to walk and enjoy nature, to admire the lake and breathe fresh air...
Therefore, we dropped our things and hurried to the shore of the lake.
The nature of this part of Finland is beautiful, so a lot of people rest here...
And every tourist is engaged in what he likes.
Like us, people swim and sunbathe, walk along the shore and ride bicycles.
Someone were looking for mushrooms and berries, and fishermen were fishing...
Here you can play football and volleyball, ride a swing with children and cook a barbecue...
And in the evening you can ride a boat on a quiet water surface...
Or you can just relax, sitting on a bench and looking at the lake.
The days are long here in summer, and the nights are light and short...
We went to the pier and saw the island...
A small island with a small house...
The owner of the island mowed the grass and waved to us by hand and we waved to him.
Ah ... It's good to live on such an island and be a part of nature.
The day passed quickly, it was late evening, but it was still light.
After a walk along the rocky shores of the lake, we returned to the camping...
It was very quiet...
We were looking out the window at the calm lake and quickly fell asleep.
