We woke up the morning of September 12, 2014 in the city of Kingman, AZ.
The breakfast we had at a truck stop "Flying J", which was next to our motel.

Truck stops in the US - this is a very interesting chapter, which I'll write someday.
Here you can not only fill the car, but also very tasty and inexpensive meal.
There is a very large selection of drinks and of a coffee, you can buy the necessary stuff for the road and of course souvenirs.
But we have not found what we needed and we drove to the nearest shopping center "WalMart".
We bought a tent.
Yes, a tent. Because we have to spend a few nights at the campground during our trip.
Today we will see the Grand Canyon, and then we'll drive to the campground, near the city of Page, AZ.
Well, tomorrow we were going to travel by boat on the Colorado River and to see Horseshoe Bend from the bottom and from the top.
The road from Kingman, AZ, to the Grand Canyon takes about three hours if you use HWY 40.
But...
Old Historic Highway 66 (Route 66) is nearby.
It is a center of tourism, especially a part, near the city of Seligman.
GPS-coordinates: 35°19'34.5"N, 112°52'23.3"W
HWY 66 (Route 66) was built in the 20s of the last century.
It was the first 4000 km long highway that connected Chicago and California.
Route 66 was called "the main road of America", it was a symbol of the country.
The song "Route 66" was written about the road.

And now, this road leads to nowhere...
Highway 66 became not claimed in the mid 80-ies of the last century, has lost its integrity and small towns along the road were destroyed.
The few remaining cities are living through tourism.
But tourists like it here.
There were a lot of tourists here, they arrived by cars and by buses.
Bikers were here, too.
All women and men were not so young, everyone were on "Harley-Davidson" and had the same leather clothing.
We had met a lot of bikers on the roads of Utah, Arizona and Nevada.
We are driving on the road...
Grand Canyon is quite close...
A local shuttle...
