A night in the camping "Bryce Canyon Pines Campground" passed wonderfully.
It was warm and cozy in the tent.
June 13, 2015, the sun rose early in the morning and a fog disappeared quickly.
So, we decided to have breakfast.
As you have read, our journey is called "The waterfalls" and it's time to see waterfalls.
The first such waterfall - is "Calf Creek Falls", which is located between the towns of Escalante and Boulder on HWY 12.
GPS-coordinates: 37°47'28.9"N, 111°24'51.8"W
Ah...Escalante...The wonderful area.
We were here in the first trip and drove on HWY 12.
But "Calf Creek Falls" were unknown to us.
Who was not in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and other states in the US West, will say:
"Why go so far away to America to watch the same thing several times".
That is so, but not for West of US, especially not for the state of Utah.
There are so many interesting things here, that you can come many times.
We realized it yourself and other travelers say about that.
Our tent was dry, we can go ahead.
An hour and a half drive was from the camground to the waterfall.
But you will not be bored - the road 12 just fantastic.
Mountains, rocks, stones of different colors succeed each other as the frames in the film...
So, we stopped often and looked at this beauty.
We have been here and seen this road, but the feeling - that you see for the first time.
Of course, you will see the exit from the road 12 to the waterfalls, but it is better to use GPS.
It was a Saturday and there were many tourists.
But we were lucky and we found a free parking place.
Here, not only a parking, but also a tourist information center, with booklets and maps.
There are toilets and a small campground of 13 places.
*Trail to waterfalls*
The waterfall "Calf Creek Falls" consists of two parts:
Lower Falls and Upper Falls.
Waterfalls are located in tiers.
The height of the Lower Falls - 38 meters.
The height of the Upper Falls - 27 meters.
The lower tier is very popular, because it can be reached by an easy hike.
It is about 5 km or 1.5 hours by a hike.
If you want to see Upper Falls, you need a 1.5km climb up on the rocks.
A sand trail starts right from the parking lot.
The road passes near the walls of the rocks...
Sometimes, the trail goes deep into the thicket.
Surprisingly, a thick forest grows in this canyon.
The road was narrow and the hike was difficult among the trees.
There were a lot of tourists on the route.
Someone was ahead of us, someone was behind.
All guys were smiling, "Hi" can be heard from all sides.
Rocks stood like sentries around the canyon...
Thickets ended, began the rise...
We went ahead.
The road winds among boulders near the cliffs, you have to be careful.
And down again - in the jungle.
The air was very fresh and cool in the trees.
Even the trees are a little different - with small leaves, as if the sun is not enough.
The noise was not far from us.
We saw a waterfall behind trees!
A small beach at the waterfall.
Tons of water fall down with a crash...
And somewhere up there - Upper "Calf Creek Falls".
I have seen many pictures of the waterfall and bathing people on the Internet.
But we did not want to bathe.
The waterfall was in the shade and the water was cold.
Splashes of water flew in all directions so that the T-shirts and shorts soaked rapidly.
A question about a hike to the upper falls was closed...
We rested near the water and then we went back to the parking lot
The sun dried the clothes quickly and the way back was no less interesting.
We were in no hurry, enjoying the nature...
A break on a stone, moved on.
The wife, like all women, was keen on flowers that grow directly on rocks.
So, we came to the parking lot.
The sun was high, the evening was still far off and there were no sites in a small campsite.
"What's next?" - wife asked...
I looked in the notebook and said: "drove in Capitol Reef Park"!
Last look at the cliffs, where there was a waterfall and we drove by the road 12.
