Havasu Falls

The two days passed very quickly in a beautiful valley.
And in the morning, on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, near the stream "Havasu Creek", we could not believe that this is our last day here.
On Thursday, we will leave this wonderful area, to continue our journey by car.

But we booked three days at the campsite and it seemed that we would have a lot of spare time.
But it was different in practice...
How do people manage to see everything here for 2 days? - I don't know.

So we had a choice.
Maybe, we should go to the waterfalls "Beaver Falls"...

Maybe, we should go to the village of Supai for food and spend the day near the waterfalls "New Navajo Falls", "Fifty Foot Falls" and "Havasu Falls".

We wanted to eat, so we went to the village.
Meals at the camp is a big problem.
Many visitors come here with refrigerators, where they keep the products.
The other guys buy products in the village of Supai.
You can eat at the cafe in the village, too.
But the 3 km walk in the heat is not a very pleasant treat.

The sun had not yet risen, but we were walking by the trail.

The nature awoke...

The tourists were still asleep in the village and only two horses were walking on the road, thinking about something.

We bought food, had breakfast at a local restaurant and then we went to the camping.
The waterfalls were near the village, a little away from the road.
It was a waterfall "New Navajo Falls".

Maybe you ask: why "New"?
Because the nature can create, destroy, and build again.
Until 2008, the waterfall "Navajo Falls", a height of 21 meters was at this place.
A severe flooding was in August 2008 and a massive landslide destroyed the waterfall.
But the stream made a new direction and created the "New Navajo Falls".
The "New Navajo Falls" consist of upper and lower waterfalls.

The "Upper Navajo Falls" has a height of 15 meters...

The "Lower Navajo Falls" has a height of 9 meters.

Loud screams and laughter could be heard from the road...
And we hurried in the direction of sounds.
After 300 meters, we saw the waterfall "Fifty Foot Falls".

A lot of tourists was near the waterfall.

Some guys were sunbathing, some bathed in the turquoise water, someone was just sitting on the beach.

But we all watched with interest for the villagers, as they were jumping into the waterfall.

A each jump was met with applause.

Sometimes, someone from the tourists was jumping too...
But there was not a lot of brave guys, since the risk was too great.
The other tourists were looking for a extreme under the waterfall.

The rocks were very sharp and stand behind the waterfall was very difficult.

After swimming and relaxing we went on...
The sun was already high, and so it was very hot.
The mules passed us not far from the campground, we were all in the dust.

But we were smiling...
Because, we have seen the waterfall "Havasu Falls".

It is best known and most accessible waterfall on the stream "Havasu Creek".
Its height is 30 meters.

The campground was a 5-minute walk from the waterfall.
Therefore, we left the food in the tent and came back to the waterfall...

A descent to the "Havasu Falls" was a lot easier than a descent to the "Mooney Falls".
Therefore, there were many people of different ages here.

The tourists look at the waterfall, they swim and sunbathe...

It is a great place for relaxing and swimming.

You can swim not only at the waterfall, but also in the creek in natural baths.

We spent the whole day at the waterfall...
The setting sun lit up the canyon in the evening...
And the waterfall has turned into an emerald surrounded by golden cliffs.
