Hualapai Hilltop

On the morning of Thursday, June 18, 2015, our story near the "Havasu Creek" was ended...
The 3 days passed very quickly and we were ready to continue our journey through America.
After breakfast we packed our tent and bags and then we went to the village of Supai.
We left camp early, so to go were not very hot.

Come back to Hualapai Hilltop

The evening before, sitting in the tent, we were deciding how to get to the parking lot with the car - "Hualapai Hilltop".
We planned to climb the hill on foot in a few hours.
But our legs were still sick, so we decided not to risk it.

Bye, Waterfalls

But what about the helicopter?
Only a 4 minutes and you're at the top of the hill "Hualapai Hilltop".
The option was very expensive, but we flew by helicopter never.
This was our chance.
And we decided to try...

Helicopter

We climbed up the hill and looked over the valley and stream "Havasu Creek".
It was very early and there were no tourists near the waterfall.
The roar of falling water in the morning silence was heard from afar.

Hualapai Hilltop

The sun awoke only, the air was fresh and we walked easily.
We met a mules on the road and a drover ahead.
"Sir, can I make a picture"?
"OK, no problem..."

Hualapai Hilltop

We reached to the village without incident.
The village was awake.
The caravan of mules came up with things - the new tourists will see soon the waterfalls.
And so it is, every day...

Hualapai Hilltop

And here is the local airport, with the proud name of "West Line".
It was 8 am only, but people have been waiting for the helicopter.
They were sitting on the benches in a waiting, when the local "ticket office" opens.
The "ticket office" was opened at 9 am, we paid for the flight and hoped to be at the top of the hill soon.
But we were wrong...

Hualapai Hilltop

Because, in addition to tourists, many of the villagers were going to fly in a helicopter.
Of course, not respecting the order and a waiting line.
So, they were flew before 1:00 pm.
Some guys were flying to the hill to buy ice cream, someone on business, they carried boxes with Coca-Cola.
Unfortunately, the visitors and tourists do not attract attention.
We were struck by the tranquility of Americans, many of them were with young children, but there was no a shadow, in the sun for 5 hours.

Hualapai Hilltop

When it was 3:00 pm, we were the first.
We were tired, all in the dust, but we boarded the helicopter.
We flew to the cliff "Hualapai Hilltop".
The four minutes of flight and we were at the top...

Hualapai Hilltop

Further the our path was to Colorado to the land of snow-capped mountains, lakes and waterfalls.
The road was long, about 9 hours away.
When we planned the route we decided to avoid the long journeys.
Therefore, the motel "Motel 6" was booked in the town of Holbrook, AZ.
We were going to bathe, to relax, to eat and to buy groceries.

Hualapai Hilltop

The long wait for the helicopter in the village of a little disrupted our plans and we did not stop anywhere on the way.
But if you have a same route, you can drive along the famous Highway 66, and relax in town of Seligman, AZ.
And in the city of Winslow, AZ you can make the purchases at North Park Shopping Center Plaza and Walmart.

Road to Colorado

We got to the motel for 5 hours in the dark, by the roads 18, 66 and HWY 40.

Hualapai Hilltop

Our motel in the city of Holbrook was the best of the "Motel 6" that we have seen.
Maybe it was built recently, maybe it was after a repair.
It was very clean, quiet and comfortable motel, with a lovely courtyard...
