There are National parks and reserves also here.
One of them - the San Juan National Forest, in the south-western part of the State of Colorado, was established in 1905.
A ridge San Juan is located on its territory.
The places are incredibly scenic: mountain passes, alpine lakes and waterfalls.

San Juan Mountains

The Colorado - a former mining area in the US.
The gold, silver and precious stones were mined here.
But now, all mines are closed, there are prospectors only.
The mining villages turned into the tourist centers and have become very popular among the Americans.
The hot thermal springs come to the surface and a swimming pool filled with healing water is in the each hotel.

San Juan Mountains

The towns of Durango, Silverton, Ouray and Telluride were connected by a highway 550, which crosses three mountain passes: the Coal Bank Pass, the Molas Pass and the Red Mountain Pass.
The dozens of large and small mountain lakes are located between the towns: Haviland Lake, Electra Lake, Columbine Lake, Boyce Lake, Andrews Lake, Molas Lake, Cryctal Lake, Alta Lake, Priest Lake and others..
But the pearl of the mountains of San Juan - is a waterfall "Bridal Veil Falls", a height of 111 meters.
The waterfall is located near the town of Telluride.

San Juan Mountains

Do you remember the name of our travel plan?
"To the waterfalls"...
And we came here to see the waterfall "Bridal Veil Falls", to drive through the passes by "Million Dollar Highway", to take a walk on the bank of lake and to spend the night in a tent in the high mountain camp!
